Overview Correctional Officer With a career in Law Enforcement as a Correctional Officer, you can earn a total possible compensation package valued up to $92,298.90 in the first year. The Utah Department of Corrections is seeking individuals who can balance compassion with accountability while supervising offenders in our care and custody at the Utah State Correctional Facility and various correctional centers in Salt Lake and Weber counties. Correctional center job locations are dependent on availability. This recruitment will be used to create a waiting list for future openings. (This recruitment is not hiring for the Central Utah Correctional Facility - Gunnison). Note: You will be required to take and pass the NPOST Exam with a score of 75% or higher; test results must be brought to the Physical Fitness testing to participate. Compensation and Signing Bonus Paid training through POST certification. A two-year commitment as a Correctional Officer at UDC includes a $6,000 signing bonus. Bonus parameters: $3,000 hiring bonus upon successful completion of the correctional officer training academy, and $3,000 on the first anniversary of hire, for a total of $6,000. Acceptance of one or both bonuses requires you to remain employed within the hiring area throughout an 18-month probationary period. Initial testing includes a physical fitness test. Minimum requirements for the physical fitness test are as follows: Vertical jump 14.5 inches or higher, 14 consecutive push-ups (military style), a 30-second plank, and a 1.5 mile run within 16 minutes 11 seconds or less. Qualifications: Meet SFO Standards Meet POST Standards New hires in certified positions shall not have tattoos above the shirt collar line (neck, head, and face).
