The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Systems Engineer (Experienced/Senior) to join the Boeing Space & Launch Proprietary Programs team in Herndon, VA.

As a member of a 40-person team, this individual will be assisting with the development and maintenance of complex, multi-tiered application software systems used to support the command and control of space vehicles. The developer will work day to day with Systems Engineers in order to implement, test, and document new features and improvements for both web services and applications supporting distributed computing solutions.

The developer will work under general supervision to complete assigned software development tasks. The developer will participate in team activities, including daily scrums, code reviews, design sessions, retrospectives and demonstrations. In addition, the developer will utilize automated CI/CD and testing pipelines supporting new features and products.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior level Software Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain Java and JavaScript based services and solutions for cloud initiatives
Utilize Angular framework, JSON, MongoDB, Wildfly, Maven, Docker, AWS, GitLabs and Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
Develop and execute unit and integrated test procedures
Provide deployment and testing artifacts as part of assigned work
Participate in application development specialties, including map/GUI integration, mathematical and logical algorithm development, and database structure design
Adhere to team development standards for software processes, tools and metrics

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Must possess a B achelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
1+ years’ experience developing web applications
3+ years ‘development experience using Java
Experience working in an Agile Environment utilizing Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or similar tools/tools suite
1+ years’ experience developing software unit tests and automated functional testing
1+ years’ experience writing software requirements, design and test documentation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Current polygraph
Experience in developing web-applications and components utilizing Angular framework
Experience with Kubernetes and container management and deployments
Experience with Linux or any Unix-based operating system
Knowledge and experience with J2EE-based architectures and restful web services
Experience with relational database systems SQL and relational table design
Experience with NoSQL databases

Typical Education/Experience Level 3:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay Range Summary:
Level 3 - $112,200 – $151,800
Level 4 - $130,900 - $177,900

To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
